Penn Jersey Roller Derby Design

Here are some slides I designed for Penn Jersey Roller Derby for use in a looping slideshow showed before games as the crowds start to file in and take their seats. They feature important rule trivia, terms, and player profiles to get fans familiarized with the game before it starts.

Currently the slideshow features animated transitions, but will eventually have animation to the cards as well. Not before animating video title cards shown during a live demo that helps familiarize the crowd with game play.

LA Derby Dolls Spec Flier

A spec flier designed for the LA Derby Dolls (this seasons' fliers are covered so this is for the "back-up" pile) featuring the ladies from the Tough Cookies and Varsity Brawlers on their April 17th match (long since past...) because the colors of these two teams are AWESOME.

I know it has been derby art all the time lately, but you have to admit roller derby is the best use of the wheel. Also I recently joined the PennJersey She-Devils rookie program, so you're seeing what's in the front of my brain!

Miss Who?

Miss Who is a board game I made May 2009 with the help and patience of Ned Hugar, Kevin Strickland and David Haines. It has been awareded the highest honor, the Allee Willis Certifikitsch of Authenkitschity!

If you haven't checked out her Museum of Kitsch do that, and if you haven't checked out my submissions to the museum do that too! Allee Willis has become a major point of reference and inspiration for all my favorite things.

Watch more cool animation and creative cartoons at Aniboom

Hey, everybody! I submitted a short to Aniboom's Sesame Street Awards. Check it out and rate me, even if it doesn't' matter because Neil Patrick Harris picks the winner!

P.S. I promise the source video has a full fade out. It even has a title card, but it appears to have been cut for submission. Poo!

Ladies Night Out: NYC Y'All

If you're on Facebook I bet you'll find my face in a LOT of photographs from Ladies' Night Out. I will always be the stranger in the background forgetting to look away, or perhaps just looking disinterested!

Don't be fooled, though! I'm really interested in the ritual "Ladies' Night Out." Perhaps its because I don't have a gaggle of lady friends to go out with, or perhaps its because I don't own a Friday-Night Shirt (you know, the dip-neck sparkly things that lightly brush the stomach rather than cling so ya' know-- you don't look fat!)... but I love it when other ladies go out with their bestest of best friends, drink drinks with blue curacao and you know-- have Ladies' Night Out.

These ladies are from what I'm sure they consider a "funkay" Tiki bar in Brooklyn, circa July and havin' lots of Ladies Night Fun. I watched them for hours, and they got some pretty unwelcome solicitations from ugly guys and a few awkward hot guys, too. I think. Honestly I have a fuzzy memory of this. I wouldn't have remembered how great this group of gals was if I didn't unearth this sketch!

Girl Show & Fetal Shark Previews

Here's four favorite designs from my "Girl Show" lineup until I finish coloring Capricorn. Until then-- Aries, Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces.

This second set of characters is from another quick project featuring a fetal shark! I've seen a lot of shark egg cases lately. So much so I had a dream I almost kept a fetal shark as a pet until I filled his cup with tap water instead of sea water. The short I'm doing about Fetal Shark is not nearly as tragic.

Postcards Bound for Europe

"Mes petits enfants et moi même serions tres heureux de pouvoir ajouter votre enseigne a cette collection que nous affectionnons beaucoup."

A French grandmother and a German skateboarder recently contacted me for promotional postcards/stickers/trinkets for collections. Although I'm sure the requests were intended for the skateboard company Mooshe, the cartoonist Mooshe has decided to take the opportunity to draw some animal postcards to send overseas.

I hope the gift is a SLAM DUNK in their books!
